Pakistan – A fire broke out in the children’s ward at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Islamabad, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 newborns.

According to local media and hospital officials, the nursery at PIMS housed 16 newborns at the time of the incident. Out of the 16 infants, only one child was rescued.

Hospital officials reported that the fire started after an air conditioner compressor exploded in the nursery.

The blaze has been completely extinguished, and firefighters are currently carrying out cooling operations at the site.
