Pakistan – Monsoon rains have killed 13 people, including 3 children and 5 women, and injured 7 others in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and southern Punjab province, according to government disaster management authority data.

The severe weather damaged 217 houses across the region, with 157 houses suffering partial damage and 60 houses being completely destroyed. Reports from the Pakistani disaster management authority show that the ongoing monsoon rains, which began last month, have also caused widespread damage to local infrastructure, including secondary roads and bridges.

Weather forecasts indicate that heavy rain will continue across Punjab province and northern areas over the next 2 days. Consequently, the provincial disaster management authority has issued warnings regarding potential urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, and other vulnerable cities, while the risk of landslides remains high in mountainous regions.
