Muscat Municipality warns of unlicensed warehouses in residential areas

17 Aug 2026 Muscat Municipality warns of unlicensed warehouses By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Muscat Municipality has issued an important warning regarding the presence of storage facilities within residential neighbourhoods, highlighting that such warehouses pose a significant threat to public safety and reduce overall community comfort and security. To address these concerns, authorities have outlined clear requirements for approved storage locations to ensure proper regulation.

According to the guidelines, any storage site must be situated exclusively within authorised commercial or industrial areas and must hold a valid municipal licence prior to commencing operations.

Additionally, facilities must fully comply with safety and security standards issued by the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, as well as provide appropriate equipment suited to the nature of the stored goods.

Furthermore, the regulations stipulate that separate and specially equipped locations must be designated for storing chemical materials whenever necessary.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any unlicenced warehouses by contacting the Muscat Municipality call centre @ 1111.
