Muscat – As part of the 11th Five-Year Development Plan (2026-2030), the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) is advancing the development of four new industrial cities in Musandam, North Batinah, North Sharqiyah and Dhofar Governorates. The projects are aligned with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040, particularly those related to economic development and diversification.

Khalid Al Salehi, Director General of Marketing and Commercial Affairs at Madayn, said the establishment is implementing a range of strategic projects across several governorates as part of its efforts to enhance Oman’s investment environment and support sustainable economic development.

“The projects involve the development of fully integrated industrial cities equipped with advanced infrastructure and logistics services. The establishment of new industrial cities in Al Suwaiq, Al Mudhaibi, Thumrait and Madha aims to strengthen Oman’s industrial infrastructure, support economic diversification, attract local and foreign investment, support SMEs and create job opportunities,” he said.

Al Salehi highlighted Al Suwaiq Industrial City as one of Madayn’s key development projects in North Batinah Governorate. The city covers a total area of approximately 12.2mn sqm, of which around 1.3mn sqm will be developed during Phase 1. The city will include the Madayn Entrepreneurial Complex, Madayn Agricultural Complex, a facility building, water and sewage networks, firefighting systems, internal roads, solar-powered lighting and other integrated infrastructure and utility services.

Meanwhile, Al Mudhaibi Industrial City in North Sharqiyah covers nearly 9mn sqm, with approximately 1.3mn sqm allocated for Phase 1. Development works are already under way at an estimated cost of RO17mn, with the project currently 7% complete, Al Salehi said.

Upon completion, Al Mudhaibi Industrial City will feature dedicated entrepreneurial and agricultural complexes, along with fully integrated infrastructure and utility networks. The city is expected to support economic activity in North Sharqiyah Governorate and create new investment opportunities in the industrial, agricultural and logistics sectors.

In Dhofar Governorate, Madayn is developing Thumrait Industrial City across an area of 4mn sqm. The project includes a Madayn Entrepreneurial Complex, a facility building, internal roads, solar-powered lighting systems, and essential infrastructure and utility services. These facilities are intended to support economic development in Dhofar, attract industrial and service investments, and strengthen commercial and logistics activities.

In Musandam Governorate, Madha Industrial City will cover a total area of 360,000 sqm. It will include a Madayn Entrepreneurial Complex supported by advanced infrastructure and utility networks, including water, sewage and firefighting systems, as well as internal roads and solar-powered lighting.

Al Salehi said the projects reflect Madayn’s commitment to developing modern industrial cities supported by integrated and sustainable infrastructure, including solar-powered lighting systems and advanced utility networks that enhance operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

He added that the projects demonstrate Madayn’s strategic direction to expand its network of industrial cities across Oman, promote balanced development across governorates, increase the manufacturing sector’s contribution to GDP and support the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
