Dhofar – Environment Authority (EA) and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology are coordinating a comprehensive national response to handle the grounding of the vessel Caroline Bezengi off the coast of the Al Hallaniyat Islands in the Dhofar Governorate.

Latest satellite imagery and technical analyses indicate that an oil slick covering an area of approximately 390 km² has been detected, moving in a generally northeast direction.

Officials have confirmed that drinking water desalination plants, fish farming projects, and coastal economic sites face no immediate danger, as continuous monitoring shows rough monsoon conditions have helped push the oil away from shores.

Specialized technical teams are actively working to inspect the vessel’s hull, stop the source of the leak, and safely transfer the remaining oil cargo to prevent further environmental damage.
