Salalah – A 15-member business delegation from Nepal is on a week-long visit to Oman, marking the first-ever organised trade mission from the Himalayan nation to the sultanate. 

Representing 15 companies across 28 sectors, the delegation aims to strengthen bilateral trade, attract investment and establish long-term business partnerships with Omani companies.

The visiting entrepreneurs represent a diverse range of industries, including bottled water and beverages, spices, handicrafts, herbal and essential oil products, tea and coffee, carpets, woollen products, gems and jewellery, cosmetics and other consumer goods.

During their visit, the delegation met leading Omani businesses and institutions, including Lulu Hypermarket, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), Hypermax, Nesto Hypermarket and Oman Investment Authority (OIA). The meetings are focused on introducing Nepali products to the Omani market, exploring investment opportunities and building distribution partnerships.

The delegation also visited the Rusayl industrial area to gain insights into regional commercial development and investment prospects.

Speaking during the event, Bishesh Kumar Sah, Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Nepal in Muscat said, “The visit marks a milestone in Nepal-Oman economic relations. This is the first organised business trade delegation from Nepal to Oman. We hope this initiative will open new avenues for trade, investment and collaboration, allowing businesses from both countries to benefit from stronger commercial ties.” 

He added that the delegation believes Oman offers promising opportunities as a gateway to the GCC market, while Nepali products are gaining recognition for their quality, authenticity and competitive pricing.

During the programme, members of the delegation also paid tribute to the late Nadhira Al Harthy, the first Omani woman to summit Mount Everest, who recently passed away in Pakistan. They honoured her remarkable achievement and remembered her as an inspiration whose legacy transcended borders and reflected the enduring friendship between Oman and Nepal.
