2 Aug 2026 CAA forecasts scattered rain and strong downdraft winds By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have issued an official weather warning indicating the active development of convective cloud formations over parts of the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas.

According to predictions derived from national numerical weather models, the atmospheric system is expected to bring scattered thundershowers of varying intensity, frequently accompanied by strong active downdraft winds. Officials have highlighted that these adverse weather conditions carry a considerable risk of triggering sudden flash floods and the flowing of mountain streams across low-lying valleys and adjacent territories.

Residents, citizens, and visitors travelling through these mountainous zones are strongly advised to exercise maximum caution, stay away from flooded wadis, and closely follow updates issued by official meteorological channels to ensure public safety during this unstable weather period.
