Muscat – Nama Water Services has completed the third phase of its training-for-employment programme, creating 303 jobs across ten governorates through partner companies responsible for the operations and maintenance of its water and wastewater network.

The latest intake raises the total number of jobs created under the initiative to 1,188, making it one of the largest national programmes for developing and employing Omani talent in the water sector.

Participants who complete accredited training programmes will be employed by the partner companies, enabling them to move directly into permanent operations and maintenance roles.

The third phase has also increased the Omanisation rate in operations and maintenance contracts to 90%, reflecting the programme’s focus on aligning training with workforce requirements.

Qais bin Saud Al Zakwani, CEO of Nama Water Services, said the initiative highlights the importance of collaboration with partner companies in recruiting, training and employing Omani talent.

“The integrated approach has strengthened Omanisation targets and helped build a qualified national workforce capable of supporting the long-term sustainability of the water and wastewater sector while improving operational efficiency,” he said.

Al Zakwani added that the company has prioritised creating jobs in governorates where skills are needed, allowing beneficiaries to work closer to their communities and improving employee retention.

The programme combines classroom instruction with practical, on-the-job training to prepare participants for employment. It covers specialised roles in engineering, maintenance, occupational health and safety, business administration and cybersecurity, ensuring training meets the sector’s operational needs.
