Muscat – Temperatures soared above 48°C across parts of Oman over the past 24 hours, while several mountainous and southern regions enjoyed significantly cooler weather, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Jabal Shams recorded the country’s lowest temperature at 14.8°C, making it the coolest location in Oman. It was followed by Qairoon Hairiti and Dhalkut in Dhofar, where temperatures dropped to 20.7°C, while Saiq recorded 21.2°C and Yaaloni 22.6°C.

Other relatively cool locations included Salalah and Haima, both at 24.2°C, followed by Mahout at 24.3°C, Masirah at 24.5°C, Um Al Zamaym at 24.9°C, and Marmul at 25.3°C.

At the opposite end of the scale, Suwaiq registered the highest temperature in the country at 48.4°C. It was followed by Khabourah at 48.2°C and Saham at 48.1°C.

Other hot spots included Wadi Al Maawil at 47.8°C, Barka at 47.6°C, while both Bausher and Rustaq reached 47.3°C. Seeb and Amerat each recorded 47°C, followed by Al Awabi at 46.7°C and Nakhal at 46.5°C.
