Muscat – The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has called on businesses across the sultanate to participate in the Purple Saturday campaign by offering exclusive promotions and discounts for persons with disabilities, highlighting the private sector’s role in advancing inclusion and social responsibility.

Organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development, the initiative will run from July 23 to August 1, inviting commercial establishments to introduce special offers that improve access to goods and services for persons with disabilities while promoting a more inclusive society.

The ministry said the campaign seeks to encourage businesses to adopt socially responsible practices that support the empowerment of persons with disabilities and facilitate their participation in economic and community life.

According to MoCIIP, the initiative reflects the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in creating equal opportunities and ensuring that persons with disabilities can benefit from commercial services on an equal basis with others.

The campaign also offers businesses an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to corporate social responsibility by supporting a national initiative that promotes accessibility and inclusion.

MoCIIP noted that participating establishments can strengthen their social impact, enhance their brand image and expand their reach to a broader segment of customers while contributing to sustainable community development.

Businesses from all sectors, including retail outlets, shopping centres, restaurants, cafés, hotels, pharmacies, service providers and other commercial establishments, are encouraged to join the campaign by introducing exclusive offers during the initiative.

The ministry stressed that even simple promotional offers can have a meaningful impact by making products and services more affordable and accessible for persons with disabilities, while encouraging wider community participation.
