Muscat – A meticulously planned attempt to break into a gold jewellery shop by smashing through an adjoining wall has been foiled by the Royal Oman Police (ROP), leading to the arrest of four Asian nationals following an extensive multi-governorate investigation.

The suspects allegedly attempted to gain access to the jewellery store in the wilayat of Muttrah by demolishing a wall separating the shop from neighbouring premises, hoping to steal valuable gold ornaments without entering through the main entrance.

However, their plan unravelled after investigators launched a coordinated search operation that tracked the suspects across governorates.

According to the Royal Oman Police, the arrests were carried out by the Muscat Governorate Police Command in cooperation with the North Batinah and Dhofar Police Commands. Authorities confirmed that the four suspects have been charged with vandalism and attempted theft, while legal procedures are being completed.

Photographs released by the ROP reveal a large hole smashed through the reinforced wall, exposing the extent of the damage caused during the attempted burglary. The incident highlights the increasingly sophisticated methods employed by organised criminal groups targeting high-value businesses.

No jewellery was reported stolen, and authorities have not disclosed the estimated value of the intended target or the exact timeline of the attempted break-in.

The swift operation reflects the close coordination between police units across the sultanate and the effectiveness of intelligence-led investigations in tracking suspects beyond the location of the crime.

The Royal Oman Police reiterated its commitment to protecting commercial establishments and urged business owners to maintain robust security systems, including surveillance cameras, alarm systems and regular monitoring of vulnerable premises.
