Muscat – The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has revealed that total employment and training placements during the first six months of 2026 reached 34,092, representing an achievement rate of 56.82% of its annual target.

According to the ministry, employment and replacement initiatives recorded an achievement rate of 61%, resulting in 26,434 placements during the period. The figures reflect ongoing efforts to provide job opportunities for Omani citizens and increase national participation across various sectors of the economy.

Training programmes linked to employment and replacement schemes also made significant progress, achieving 45% of their target. A total of 7,658 individuals benefited from these programmes, which are designed to equip job seekers with skills aligned with labour market requirements and improve their employability.

The ministry noted that overall employment figures for the first half of the year stood at 62,931. Of these, 34,092 represented first-time job opportunities, while 28,839 positions were secured by individuals with previous work experience.

The latest figures underscore the government’s continued focus on job creation, workforce development and enhancing the role of Omani talent in the labour market. Employment generation and targeted training programmes remain key pillars of the country’s broader economic agenda aimed at building a skilled and competitive national workforce.

The ministry’s performance during the first half of the year highlights steady progress towards meeting its employment objectives, with further initiatives expected to be rolled out in the coming months to support job seekers and strengthen national workforce participation.
