London, UK – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik met Sir Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, on Thursday at 10 Downing Street in London.

The meeting reviewed the deep-rooted and enduring historical ties between the two friendly nations. Discussions centred on ways to further elevate the strategic partnership in a manner that advances shared interests and unlocks broader prospects for bilateral cooperation across multiple domains in fulfillment of the mutual aspirations of their peoples for sustained growth and prosperity.

The meeting also addressed regional developments, with an exchange of perspectives on effective ways to deescalate and prevent conflict, in support of ongoing negotiations and diplomatic initiatives aimed at restoring safe and secure maritime navigation through the Gulf’s strategic waterways. In addition, the two sides explored avenues for reaching a comprehensive and lasting agreement on outstanding issues – foremost among these being the Iranian nuclear file – in a manner that upholds regional stability, fosters peaceful coexistence and promotes constructive engagement among all neighbouring states in the region.

The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Badr bin Mohammed Al Manthri, Ambassador of Oman to the UK.

From the British side, the meeting was attended by Jonathan Powell, National Security Adviser, and Dr Liane Saunders, Ambassador of the UK to Oman.

Invitation from King Charles III

His Majesty the Sultan received an invitation from King Charles III of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to pay a state visit to the UK.

The invitation was delivered by PM Starmer during his meeting with His Majesty the Sultan in London.

This invitation comes within the framework of the historic Omani-British relations and the enduring friendship between the two friendly peoples, as well as the shared commitment of the leaderships of both countries to continue strengthening these ties across various domains, in pursuit of further mutual benefits and common interests.
