Muscat – The National Museum has launched its summer programme, ‘A Journey Through Heritage and Art’, offering a series of educational and artistic activities for school, college and university students.

Organised by the Museum’s Learning Centre, the programme features interactive workshops inspired by Omani heritage and the National Museum’s collections, alongside guided tours of the museum’s galleries.

The initiative is part of a wider series of educational programmes and training courses organised by the Learning Centre with the support of BP Oman, reflecting the museum’s educational, cultural and humanitarian mission.

The programme has been designed to cater to different age groups. Activities from June 28 to July 2 are dedicated to Grade 1 to 4 students, followed by sessions for students of Grade 6 to 9 from July 5 to 10. College and university students will participate from July 12 to 16. The Learning Centre will continue its activities throughout August by hosting visits from summer centres, enabling participants to explore the museum’s collections and educational offerings.

The programme includes a wide range of educational, artistic and interactive workshops that combine learning with practical experience. The activities are aimed at developing participants’ skills, fostering creativity and deepening their understanding of Oman’s history and rich civilisational heritage. They also encourage young people to engage with the nation’s cultural legacy in contemporary and inspiring ways.

In addition, the programme provides training opportunities for college and university students to assist in delivering activities alongside the Learning Centre team, giving them practical experience and helping them develop educational and cultural skills.

Amina bint Abdullah Al Abri, Head of the Learning Centre, said the programme is one of the centre’s annual initiatives designed to instil the values of national identity and strengthen young people’s connection with their cultural heritage through a creative approach that combines art and heritage.

She noted that the National Museum places special emphasis on developing educational programmes for children and young people, recognising them as key partners in preserving cultural heritage for future generations. The programme, she added, aims to provide an enriching educational experience that blends learning with enjoyment while reinforcing the museum’s role as a leading educational and cultural institution.
