Muscat – The National Centre for Statistics and Information has released new data regarding civil documentation in Oman for the year 2025. A total of 81,630 new personal identity cards were issued throughout the year, with 42,354 issued to males and 39,276 to females. The North Batinah Governorate led in issuances with 18,597 cards, followed by Muscat and Dakhliyah, while Al Wusta recorded the lowest number. Monthly data indicates that August saw the highest activity, whereas March recorded the lowest.
Regarding travel documentation, 290,918 Omani passports were issued or renewed in 2025. This figure reflects a continuing downward trend over the past three years, dropping from 431,211 in 2023 and 310,913 in 2024. Muscat Governorate accounted for the highest number of passports, while Al Wusta recorded the fewest.
In the realm of legal documentation, marriage contracts rose significantly to 23,117 in 2025, representing a 57% growth since 2023. Muscat Governorate registered the highest number of marriage contracts, followed by North Batinah. Divorce documentation also saw a modest increase, reaching 4,208 cases in 2025, an upward trend of 9.9% since 2023, with Muscat again recording the highest number of registered documents.
