Muscat Municipality warns against vandalism in public parks

22 Jun 2026 Muscat Municipality warns against vandalism in public parks By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Muscat Municipality has issued a formal advisory regarding the increasing incidence of vandalism within public parks. The deliberate damage to playground equipment poses significant challenges to both public safety and the maintenance of communal facilities.

The authority highlights that such destructive behaviour directly deprives children of the opportunity to engage in safe play. Furthermore, damaged equipment significantly elevates the risk of accidents and injuries to young users. Beyond safety concerns, vandalism negatively alters the aesthetic appeal of public spaces, resulting in an unfavourable impression of city parks.

The repair and maintenance of these facilities impose an additional financial burden on the municipality. Such actions also foster a culture of neglect within the community. Consequently, these factors lead to a marked reduction in public attendance at parks, as residents feel less inclined to visit poorly maintained sites. Muscat Municipality calls upon the public to exercise responsibility in safeguarding these essential community assets to ensure they remain functional and welcoming for all.
