Tehran – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced the launch of drone and missile strikes against United States military assets in the Middle East, citing these actions as retaliation for recent American operations in southern Iran. According to Iranian officials, the military campaign targeted the United States Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and an airbase hosting American personnel in Jordan. The Iranian strikes follow reports of United States military actions in the Sirik region of southern Iran, where local authorities confirmed that two water tanks were destroyed during the offensive.

In response to the incoming fire, regional security forces have been placed on high alert. The Jordanian military confirmed it successfully intercepted and destroyed five missiles launched from Iranian territory. Simultaneously, the Kuwaiti military reported it was actively engaging and intercepting hostile aerial targets within its airspace. Residents in Bahrain also reported that air raid sirens were activated across the region as a defensive precaution.

The United States military has characterised its preceding strikes on Iran as a proportional response and an act of self-defence. Pentagon officials stated that these operations were necessitated by the downing of a United States Apache attack helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. As the situation develops, military commanders in the region remain on standby, and the exchange of fire represents a significant escalation in the ongoing hostilities between the two nations.
