Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik issued Royal Decree No 64/2026 promulgating the Civil Society Institutions Law on Monday after the same was presented to the Council of Oman.
Article 1 states that the provisions of the Civil Society Institutions Law, attached to this decree, will be enforced.
Article 2 stipulates that those subject to the provisions of this law must adjust their status in accordance with its provisions within a period not exceeding one year from the date of its enforcement.
Article 3 states that the Minister of Social Development will issue the Executive Regulation for the law attached to this decree within one year from the date of its enforcement. The Minister will also issue the regulations and decisions necessary for enforcement of its provisions. Until such time, the existing regulations and decisions will continue to apply, without prejudice to the provisions of the attached law.
Article 4 annuls the Civil Associations Law promulgated by Royal Decree No 14/2000. It also cancels all that contradicts the attached law or contravenes its provisions.
Article 5 states that this decree will be published in the Official Gazette and enforced the day following its publication.
