Ibra – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has installed more than 30 new signboards across Dhahirah governorate, in a move aimed at strengthening tourism infrastructure and improving visitor access to key attractions,

The initiative forms part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance the tourism experience and promote the governorate’s rich natural and cultural heritage. The newly installed signs guide visitors to a number of historical, heritage and tourist landmarks, making it easier for travellers to navigate the region and discover its diverse attractions.

Among the sites benefiting from the project are Jabal Al Surah, Al Koor Mountain and the Tropic of Cancer crossing point in the wilayat of Ibri. These locations have gained increasing popularity among tourists, researchers and adventure enthusiasts due to their unique geographical and natural features.

The ministry said the project is designed to improve accessibility to tourist destinations while supporting the development of scientific and adventure tourism, two segments that have witnessed growing interest in recent years. Clear directional signage is expected to encourage more visitors to explore remote and lesser-known attractions across the governorate.

Dhahirah is home to a variety of landscapes, including mountain ranges, desert areas and geological formations, in addition to a wealth of archaeological and heritage sites that reflect Oman’s long history and cultural legacy. The governorate has increasingly positioned itself as a destination for outdoor activities, eco-tourism and educational trips.

Officials noted that providing accurate and visible guidance signs contributes to visitor safety, facilitates travel planning and enhances the overall tourism experience. The initiative also supports broader efforts to promote domestic tourism and attract international visitors seeking authentic cultural and nature-based experiences.
