USA – United States House of Representatives has approved a Democratic-led resolution designed to restrict the President’s authority to initiate military action against Iran without prior congressional approval. The measure, which seeks to stop an illegal war on Iran by mandating that hostilities receive formal legislative authorisation, passed with a vote of 215 to 208.
The outcome was notable for including the support of 4 Republican members who chose to cross party lines to join their Democratic colleagues. This legislative action highlights an increasing level of concern within Congress, even among members of the President’s own party, regarding the potential for an escalated military conflict with Iran and the extent of executive war-making powers.
