Geneva – Oman has been crowned with a prestigious global award from the World Health Organization. The accolade serves as recognition for the country’s outstanding sustainability in validating the total elimination of mother-to-child transmission of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and syphilis.

The presentation took place during the current proceedings of the 79th session of the World Health Assembly, which is currently being held in Geneva, Switzerland. This international milestone underscores Oman’s long-term commitment to public health frameworks and its success in safeguarding future generations from these infectious diseases.

By meeting the rigorous global criteria required to sustain this elimination status, the Sultanate continues to strengthen its position as a leading model for healthcare excellence within the region. The award reflects the collaborative efforts of national health authorities to build proactive, resilient, and comprehensive medical systems.
