Muscat – Oman Cricket has successfully concluded the Cricket4Her Indoor & Outdoor Cup 2025, with more than 300 participants competing across formats as part of its ongoing initiative to promote and develop women’s cricket in the Sultanate. Now in its third year, the programme continues to expand grassroots participation while creating pathways for players to transition from softball formats to competitive hardball cricket.
The Cricket4Her Outdoor Cup 2025 showcased competitive and spirited performances from all participating teams. AGNI emerged as champions after a dominant campaign, while Women’s Cricket Sohar (WCS) finished as the worthy runners-up.
In the indoor competition, Kool Knight Riders claimed the championship title with a series of impressive performances, while AGNI once again showcased their consistency by finishing as runners-up.
The indoor format continued to play a crucial role in introducing new participants to cricket in an accessible and comfortable environment, encouraging skill development and confidence among players. The Outdoor tournament highlighted the growing standard of women’s cricket, with players demonstrating improved skills and teamwork along with comradery amongst the opponents.
The tournaments concluded with a closing ceremony graced by Paul Sheridan, Vice Chairman of Oman Cricket and Duleep Mendis, Chief Development Officer of Oman Cricket underscoring Oman Cricket’s commitment to the growth and sustainability of women’s cricket.
Speaking on the continued success of the initiative, Duleep Mendis said: “The Cricket4Her initiative has reaped rewards for Oman Cricket in many ways than one. The increase in the number of participants year on year is very encouraging. We are also delighted to see the formation of new community teams, which has maximized participation and broaden the playing base.” He further added:
“Oman Cricket supports and encourages every participant to progress through this initiative with the aim of transitioning into the hardball format, excelling further, and ultimately representing Oman at the national level.”
Cricket4Her continues to serve as a vital entry point for aspiring female cricketers, offering structured opportunities to learn, compete, and grow within the sport. By bridging grassroots participation with elite pathways, the initiative aligns with Oman Cricket’s vision of building a robust and inclusive cricketing ecosystem.
