3 May 2026 APSR announces reduced electricity tariffs for summer 2026 By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) has announced a comprehensive relief package for residential electricity consumers to mitigate the impact of high energy consumption during the summer of 2026. This initiative is specifically designed to address the challenges posed by rising temperatures between May and August. As part of these measures, the Authority has implemented a reduction in electricity tariffs for the residential sector, ensuring that households face lower costs during the peak heat period.

In addition to the tariff reductions, the Authority has issued a directive to suspend all service disconnections for non-payment during these four months. To further support the public, flexible payment plans have been introduced, allowing consumers to manage their utility bills more effectively. These directives are intended to provide a financial safety net for residents, ensuring continuous access to essential cooling and power services as the Sultanate experiences its seasonal peak in energy demand.
