Muscat – Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has recently taken decisive action to uphold market standards and protect the rights of individuals across various governorates. In Muscat, the Authority mandated the closure of a commercial establishment operating within the home furniture sector. This enforcement measure was necessitated after the business failed to adhere to the terms of settlements previously agreed upon with a group of consumers.

In a separate development within the North Batinah Governorate in Wilayat of Suwaiq, the Authority successfully mediated an amicable settlement between a group of consumers and several suppliers. The initial complaints were lodged by customers who experienced significant issues regarding the delivery of services. These grievances included a failure to perform agreed-upon tasks, extensive delays in delivery, and a general lack of adherence to specified project timelines. Following these breaches, the affected consumers formally demanded a recovery of the funds they had paid to the service providers.

Through the intervention of the CPA, a resolution was reached that resulted in the successful recovery of financial amounts totaling RO4,110. These funds have been returned to the rightful consumers, effectively resolving the disputes without the need for further litigation.
