Muscat – Civil Aviation Authority has issued a weather alert regarding increased wind activity across several regions of the Sultanate of Oman on Sunday, April 5. Active southwesterly winds are expected to impact governorates overlooking the Arabian Sea, while northwesterly winds will affect Musandam, Buraimi, Dhahirah, North Batinah, South Batinah, and Dakhliyah. These conditions are predicted to continue for several days, leading to significant changes in sea conditions and land visibility.

The authority has warned that sea levels will rise along the coasts of the Arabian Sea, Musandam, and the Sea of Oman. Wave heights are expected to reach a maximum of 2.5m, creating moderate to rough conditions for maritime activities. Furthermore, the strong winds are likely to trigger dust and sand storms in desert and open areas, which will result in a noticeable decrease in horizontal visibility. Members of the public and mariners are urged to take necessary precautions during this period of unstable weather.
