Muscat – Salalah Port Services Company has received formal notification from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology that its existing concession agreements to operate the Port of Salalah will not be extended beyond their contractual expiry date of November 1, 2028, paving the way for a new operator to take over thereafter.

The ministry has confirmed that the decision not to extend the concession agreements is final and unconditional, according to a disclosure by Salalah Port Services Company to the Muscat Stock Exchange.

Salalah Port Services Company said its board of directors would consider the notification and assess its implications and potential impact on the company. It would also engage with relevant stakeholders as appropriate and keep the market informed of any material developments in line with disclosure requirements.

The ministry, meanwhile, reaffirmed its commitment to the development and expansion of the Port of Salalah, saying port operations and development projects would continue without interruption throughout the remaining concession period.

In a social media statement, the ministry said official details of the new operator that will take over management of the port after the current concession agreement expires would be announced in due course.

The existing operator will continue running the Port of Salalah until the concession expires, while details of its successor remain to be announced.
