Muscat – Invest Oman and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) have localised 12 projects with a total investment value of RO97.413mn, while structuring a further 13 investment opportunities worth approximately RO122.849mn.
The projects and investment opportunities cover food security, agriculture, food industries and fisheries and are being developed through cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP), represented by Invest Oman, and MAFWR.
The integration between Invest Oman and MAFWR represents a practical model of government partnership in developing projects and structuring investment opportunities.
The 12 projects are spread across several governorates and economic locations in Oman. Key projects include a Meat City project in Salalah, with an investment of RO27mn; a food manufacturing facility in Khazaen Economic City, with an investment of RO14mn; a Green Charcoal project on agricultural and fisheries land, valued at RO16mn; a food and beverages manufacturing facility in Khazaen Economic City, with an investment of RO7.7mn; a pet food manufacturing facility in Salalah Free Zone, with an investment of RO3.465mn; the Taj Al Bahr aquaculture project in Quriyat, with an investment value of RO1.7mn; a date palm cultivation project on agricultural and fisheries land, valued at RO1.342mn; a wheat cultivation project, valued at RO1.205mn; a honey production facility in Barka, valued at RO1.2mn; and an agricultural gypsum manufacturing facility in Al Khaburah, valued at RO1mn.
The projects are aimed at developing local value chains and supporting Oman’s food security while increasing investment in productive sectors.
Dr Masoud bin Sulaiman Al Azri, Director General of Agricultural and Fisheries Marketing at MAFWR, said, “Cooperation with Invest Oman has been characterised by flexibility, ease of coordination, and responsiveness, which has contributed to transforming a number of sectoral needs and potential into projects and investment opportunities more effectively. The integration between the two entities enables each party to leverage its respective expertise and mandate throughout the development of projects and opportunities. The results achieved demonstrate the value of this approach and the importance of continuing and expanding it to cover new areas and opportunities across the agricultural, fisheries, and food sectors.”

There are also 13 investment opportunities available on the Invest Oman platform in cooperation with MAFWR, with a total investment value of approximately RO122.849mn. These opportunities span food security, agriculture, food industries and fisheries.
Six investment opportunities are located in the Najd Agricultural Area in Al Mazyouna, Dhofar Governorate. They include a livestock fattening and dairy production project with an investment value of RO4.449mn; a melon cultivation project valued at RO2.1mn; a leafy vegetable cultivation project in greenhouses valued at RO1.6mn; an onion cultivation and processing project valued at RO4.8mn; a garlic cultivation project valued at RO2.3mn; and a potato cultivation and processing project valued at RO5.5mn.
The opportunities also include the Smart Agricultural Complex in Muscat Governorate, with an investment value of RO17mn; a marine aquaculture equipment manufacturing facility in Duqm, within the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD), valued at RO6.2mn; an integrated industrial complex for manufacturing fishing equipment in Duqm, at Duqm Port, valued at RO7.2mn; a tuna fattening project using floating cages in Quriyat, valued at RO4.7mn; an Omani abalone aquaculture project in Shaleem and the Hallaniyat Islands, valued at RO10mn; a giant shrimp aquaculture project in Ras Madrakah, Al Wusta Governorate, valued at RO32mn; and a whiteleg shrimp aquaculture project in Ras Sarq, Jalan Bani Bu Ali, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, valued at RO25mn.
