Muscat – Oman’s healthcare sector recorded continued growth in 2025, with the number of Omani doctors increasing 12% to 4,300 from 3,800 in 2024, according to National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) data.

The increase came alongside expansion in the country’s overall health workforce, which reached 78,993 in 2025, compared to 71,180 a year earlier.

The number of health institutions increased 3.4% to 2,464 in 2025, while investment in the health sector rose from RO221.6mn in 2024 to RO293.3mn in 2025, representing an increase of about 32.3%.

Omani doctors were among several categories of health professionals showing a growing presence in the sector.

Omani dentists accounted for 37% of all dentists working in health institutions in 2025, while Omanis made up 47% of the total nursing workforce in the public and private sectors.

The number of government and private hospitals increased 4% between 2024 and 2025 , the NCSI data showed.

The health workforce stood at 49,890 in the government sector in 2025, up from 48,525 in 2024, while the private sector workforce increased more significantly to 29,103, compared to 22,655 a year earlier.

Across both sectors, 51% of health workers were Omanis in 2025.

Outpatient services also recorded growth during the year. The number of outpatient visits to institutions under the Ministry of Health increased 3% to 16.1mn in 2025, compared to 15.6mn in 2024.

The number of blood donors rose 1.4% during the year, with Muscat governorate accounting for 50% of all donors.

Omanis represented 82.7% of the blood donors and 91.3% of Omani blood donors were male.
