Newyork – Oman reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and international partners to support efforts aimed at building a fairer, more sustainable, and equitable future for every child.

This declaration was made in a statement delivered by H E Ambassador Omar bin Saeed al Kathiri, Oman’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, during the second regular session of the UNICEF Executive Board for 2026, held at United Nations Headquarters in New York on September 2.

Oman expressed appreciation to the Republic of Estonia for its presidency of the UNICEF Executive Board for 2026, while also commending the UNICEF Executive Director and personnel for protecting children’s rights amidst rising humanitarian and developmental challenges.

Furthermore, Oman noted the special significance of this session as its final participation as an Executive Board member and Vice President representing the Asia-Pacific group for 2026, expressing pride in the trust shown by member states and the opportunity to foster constructive dialogue.
