Muscat – Oman Air Sports Committee (OASC) has officially announced the complete suspension of all paragliding activities across the Sultanate. Working in close coordination and cooperation with relevant government entities and authorities, the committee decided to halt all types of gliding operations in every authorised location throughout the country.

This temporary measure takes immediate effect and will remain in place until further notice is issued by the governing body. Practitioners, clubs, and enthusiasts are required to comply fully with the directive to ensure public safety and adherence to national regulatory frameworks governing air sports within the region.

This decision was reached in coordination and cooperation with the relevant authorities following a painful and tragic accident in the Wilayat of Salalah. The unfortunate incident resulted in the passing of Captain Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Kalbani and his sister. The Oman Air Sports Committee expressed its profound sorrow and extended its sincere condolences to the grieving family.
