Muscat – The foreign trade sector of Oman regarding tea and coffee experienced notable growth between 2021 and 2025, according to official statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

During this five-year period, the total value of tea and coffee imports surpassed RO 49 million. Specifically, the value of tea imports climbed from RO 13.9 million in 2021 to RO 28.2 million in 2025, marking an increase of 103.2%. Simultaneously, imported tea quantities rose by 182.1%, moving from 9.3 million kg to 26.2 million kg.

Coffee imports also witnessed substantial expansion, with their financial value rising from RO 8.6 million in 2021 to RO 21 million in 2025, reflecting a growth rate of 144.1%. The volume of imported coffee increased from 6.2 million kg to 7.7 million kg, representing a 23.9% growth.

In terms of supply origins for 2025, the Republic of Kenya led the tea-supplying nations to Oman with imports valued at RO 20.2 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates at RO 4.7 million and the Republic of India at RO 1.1 million.

For coffee imports during the same year, the United Arab Emirates ranked first among suppliers with imports valued at RO 8.5 million, followed by the Republic of Vietnam at RO 2.6 million, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at RO 1.6 million, and Brazil at RO 1.5 million.

Commercial activities further encompassed re-exports and related equipment, with tea re-exports reaching RO 1.03 million and tea exports standing at RO 737.2 thousand in 2025. Coffee re-exports totalled RO 338.5 thousand, while coffee exports reached RO 11.8 thousand.

Furthermore, imports of tea and coffee utensils and accessories were valued at RO 5 million in 2025, down from RO 6.5 million in 2024, alongside re-exports of these accessory items worth RO 796.4 thousand. This robust trade activity mirrors a broader expansion in the country’s hospitality sector.

Recent establishment data highlights a growing network of food and beverage service providers, comprising 6,198 restaurants, 2,833 beverage-serving venues, 6,295 meal-serving establishments, 427 mobile vendors, and 65 public sector canteens.
