Cairo, Egypt – Omani and Egyptian businesses explored new investment partnerships in food, pharmaceuticals, aluminium, shipping and real estate at an industrial forum in Cairo on Tuesday, as the two countries seek to deepen trade and investment ties.

The forum was organised jointly by the Embassy of Oman in Cairo and the North Batinah branch of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), bringing together business owners and government officials from both countries.

H E Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, said direct engagement between private sector companies had already produced tangible results.

He noted that a previous visit by a North Batinah delegation three years ago led to the launch of three investment projects in Suhar.

H E Al Rahbi expressed hope that the current mission would generate further partnerships, particularly in food and pharmaceutical security and real estate development.

Saeed bin Ali Al Abri, Chairman of OCCI’s North Batinah branch and head of the delegation, said the visit aimed to give businesses from both sides a platform to identify opportunities and expand commercial and industrial cooperation.

Egyptian officials briefed the delegation on incentives available to foreign investors, including procedures governing investment, free zones and trade facilitation.

The Omani side presented investment opportunities in North Batinah and across the sultanate, highlighting economic zones, industrial cities and prospects in industry, agriculture and property development.

The delegation also held talks with the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone on potential investment cooperation and toured Ain Sokhna port and industrial projects in the area.

In a separate meeting with Ahmed Al Wakil, President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, the two sides discussed strengthening institutional cooperation between OCCI and Egyptian chambers to support investors.

The visit forms part of broader efforts to encourage direct business-to-business links and convert bilateral relations into commercially viable projects across manufacturing, logistics and other growth sectors.
