Muscat – Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) has released an astronomical report detailing the parameters for the observation day of the crescent moon of Rabi al-Awwal 1448 AH, set for Thursday, 29 Safar 1448 AH, corresponding to August 13.

According to MERA, the central conjunction will occur on Wednesday, 28 Safar 1448 AH, matching August 12 at 09:37 PM, while the surface conjunction is scheduled for 10:05 PM on the same day.

For Muscat, sunset on the observation day will take place at 6:42 PM, with the moon setting at 7:15 PM, giving a stay duration of 33 minutes after sunset. The crescent will have an altitude of 7 degrees above the horizon, an elongation of 11 degrees from the sun, and an illumination intensity of 1.05 percent.

Additional regional data across various wilayats—including Salalah, Ibri, Nizwa, Khasab, Buraimi, Suhar, Rustaq, Sur, Ibra, and Haima—highlights similar astronomical metrics, with moonset timings, altitudes ranging from 7 to 8 degrees, and stay durations between 33 and 36 minutes.
