Muscat – The Oman national hockey team concluded a productive five-match test series against the Pakistan U20 men’s team, showing marked improvement as they fine-tuned preparations for the 2026 Asian Games. 

While Oman continue their build-up to the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, the Pakistan U20 team used the tour to prepare for the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2026 in China, with the series offering both sides valuable international exposure.

The highly competitive series provided both teams with valuable international match experience and an excellent opportunity to assess their preparations against quality opposition.

Pakistan U20 bagged the series after winning three of the five matches, while the remaining two matches ended in draws.

Despite the overall series result, the performances demonstrated the steady progress of Oman. After facing defeats in the opening three encounters, the Omani side showed remarkable improvement in both attack and defence, earning two well-deserved draws against one of Asia’s strongest junior teams.

The gradual improvement from match to match reflects the effectiveness of the team’s preparation programme, the players’ commitment, and the coaching staff’s efforts to build a competitive squad ahead of the Asian Games.

Speaking after the series, Hockey Oman expressed its appreciation to the Pakistan Hockey Federation and the Pakistan U20 National Team for accepting the invitation to tour Muscat. The series further strengthened the longstanding sporting relationship between Oman and Pakistan while providing both teams with valuable international exposure.
