Muscat – Food Safety and Quality Center (FSQC) has summoned several companies and social media influencers following the detection of violations related to the advertising and promotion of food products and foods intended for infants and young children.
Key violations identified include publishing promotional materials that contain misleading claims or breach technical requirements, advertising prohibited products, using unapproved health claims, and promoting food items without prior approval from the center.
This action forms part of ongoing efforts to enforce legislation governing food marketing. The center emphasised that it will continue monitoring advertisements and promotional materials to take punitive measures against violators under current laws, aiming to safeguard consumers, eliminate misleading advertisements, and ensure strict compliance with established technical regulations and promotional standards.
