Muscat – Muscat Municipality has launched an awareness campaign highlighting that public cleanliness goes beyond managing waste and includes avoiding behaviours that damage the general appearance of the city.

Officials emphasized that spitting smokeless tobacco, known as paan, in public spaces causes severe visual pollution, reflects poorly on the surrounding environment, and increases the workload for cleaning and removal crews.

The municipality urged everyone to respect public facilities and refrain from this harmful practice to safeguard the civilised image and hygiene of Muscat.
