Muscat – The Environment Authority has launched the Zero Paper (Sifr Waraq) initiative, a new awareness campaign encouraging employees to reduce paper consumption and embrace digital working practices as part of the sultanate’s digital transformation and sustainability agenda under Oman Vision 2040.

The campaign promotes the message that environmental protection begins in the workplace, highlighting how simple daily actions – such as replacing printed documents with digital files and relying on electronic communication – can significantly reduce paper waste and improve the efficient use of resources.

Through a series of awareness materials, the initiative encourages employees to ask an important question: Does protecting the environment start from inside the office? The campaign answers that question by demonstrating that every digital transaction means less paper consumption and lower waste, while every electronic message contributes to smarter and more sustainable resource management.

According to the campaign, adopting paperless practices is not only about reducing printing costs but also about creating a more efficient, modern and environmentally responsible workplace. By limiting unnecessary paper use, organisations can lower their environmental footprint while improving workflow, document management and operational efficiency.

The initiative also seeks to strengthen a culture of sustainability within the Environment Authority by integrating digital solutions into everyday administrative processes.
