19 Jul 2026 Oman tourism festivals and local economy By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Do you think Oman’s tourism festivals are meeting visitors’ expectations and supporting the local economy? Here is what Muscat Daily readers said –

Saarim Hussain, Student

I think Oman’s tourism festivals are well-organised. They showcase Omani culture through traditional performances, local crafts, and delicious food in a safe and welcoming environment. They also attract many visitors and promote tourism. To make these better, more international promotion and interactive activities for tourists could be introduced.

Jayatee Choudhury, Homemaker

Oman’s tourism festivals should emphasise on traditions and culture. Food courts should stress on traditional food items. Cottage and small-scale industries should be encouraged.

The revenue generated from these activities should be used to encourage self-employment and startups.

Anne Andabi, Student

Oman’s tourism festivals effectively showcase our rich heritage, meeting many visitors’ expectations while significantly boosting the local economy through job creation and SME support. To improve, diversifying activities and upgrading infrastructure would ensure even greater satisfaction and long-term economic sustainability.

Khalid Al Ishaqi, Delivery driver

Oman’s tourism festivals, such as the Dhofar Khareef Festival, have successfully met visitors’ expectations thanks to their diverse range of activities. This success strongly supports the local economy by boosting business in markets and hotels, supporting SMEs and creating promising job opportunities for young people. These festivals also help showcase Oman’s authentic cultural identity and promote sustainable income growth.

Majed Khamis Sulaiman Al Gharibi, Student

Oman’s tourism festivals promote the sultanate’s culture, attract visitors and support local businesses. However, adding more international events and improving visitor services would make the experience even better

Luay Al Shaqi, Student

Tourism festivals in Oman, including the Dhofar Autumn Festival and cultural heritage events, attract local and international visitors. They boost the economy by increasing demand for hotels and restaurants, creating temporary jobs and supporting local businesses.

Nibras Ahmed Al Hinai, SME owner

I think Oman’s tourism festivals are generally meeting visitors’ expectations. They showcase Omani culture, traditional arts, food and heritage while providing enjoyable entertainment. These festivals also support the local economy by attracting tourists and increasing spending in hotels, restaurants and shops, while creating temporary jobs for citizens.
