Muscat – Talabat has unveiled Oman’s first dedicated rider rest area, offering delivery riders a place to escape the summer heat, recharge and access refreshments during their working day.

Located at Oman Post’s Al Khuwair premises, the facility was inaugurated on Monday under the patronage of Abdullah Al Busaidi, Director General of Oman Logistics Centre at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

The facility reflects growing recognition of the challenges faced by delivery riders, whose work requires long hours on the road, particularly during Oman’s high summer temperatures.

The air-conditioned rest area provides riders with seating and access to meals and refreshments through Talabat Mart. It forms part of Talabat’s Summer Together campaign, which places rider welfare at the centre of the company’s summer operations.

Stephane Berton, Managing Director of Talabat Oman, said supporting riders is fundamental to the company’s operations. “Riders are central to the service we provide and to the communities we serve. Ensuring they have the right conditions to work safely and comfortably is a baseline responsibility we take seriously,” he said.

“We understand the realities of this work and, in close alignment with our partners, we are focused on addressing these in a practical and sustained way. This initiative reflects our commitment to Omani people and our confidence in the development of the country’s logistics sector.”

The Al Khuwair facility is the first project to be delivered under a strategic agreement signed by Talabat and Oman Post in February this year. The agreement provides a framework for using Oman Post facilities across the country to enhance welfare services and operational support for riders.

Alongside the new rest area, Talabat will be introducing five air-conditioned rider rest buses in partnership with Mwasalat. Stationed in Ruwi, Bausher, Amerat and Mabela, the buses will provide additional rest points closer to delivery zones, allowing riders to take breaks and access cold refreshments, including juices and ice cream.

The company is also investing in the wider delivery ecosystem. In partnership with third-party logistics providers, Talabat has deployed 2,000 delivery motorcycles across Oman and supports training programmes and employment of Omani nationals entering the logistics sector.
