35 students from 17 nations join Arabic language programme in Oman

Manah- The Sultan Qaboos Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers (SQI-TANNS) on Sunday welcomed 35 students representing 17 nationalities to its campus in Manah, Dakhliyah Governorate, for a seven-week academic and cultural programme aimed at strengthening Arabic language proficiency and promoting cultural exchange.

The 62nd cohort includes participants from the Oman-Britain Friendship Society, alongside students from Uzbekistan, the United States, Iran, Pakistan, Brunei Darussalam, Tanzania, Türkiye, the Comoros, Romania, South Korea, France, Ghana, Germany, Hungary, Malaysia and Japan, highlighting growing international interest in learning Arabic and experiencing Omani culture.

The programme is designed to enhance students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through an interactive learning environment that combines classroom instruction with practical application, enabling participants to use Arabic effectively in a variety of communication settings.

In addition to language training, the course features a range of cultural activities and educational field visits that introduce students to Oman’s rich history, heritage and tourism attractions. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience authentic Omani customs and traditions, fostering greater cultural understanding and people-to-people ties.

The programme forms part of the institute’s ongoing efforts to promote the Arabic language internationally and reinforce Oman’s position as a leading destination for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers through integrated educational and cultural initiatives.
