Jabal Akhdar – Dakhliyah has unveiled a programme for the Jabal Akhdar Festival 2026, which will run for 45 days from July 15 to August 29, featuring new attractions, entertainment experiences and business opportunities aimed at consolidating the mountain destination’s position as one of Oman’s leading summer tourism hubs.
The announcement was made during a preparatory meeting held last week attended by government entities, private sector partners and strategic stakeholders involved in organising the festival. The meeting reviewed operational plans and witnessed the signing of contracts with companies responsible for delivering the festival’s events and activities.
This year’s edition coincides with the launch of several new tourism and development projects, including the Jabal Akhdar Park and upgrades to public facilities and services, enhancing the wilayat’s readiness to welcome growing numbers of visitors.
One of the governorate’s flagship tourism events, the festival is expected to attract families, adventure seekers and tourists from across Oman and the region through a diverse programme blending entertainment, culture, shopping and community engagement.
Festival zones will include the Family Oasis, Youth Square, Games Area, Kids’ World, Cinema Dome, Mountain Bazaar and Taste Passion Zone. A central stage will host daily theatrical performances, interactive shows, competitions, talent showcases, cartoon character appearances and a roaming carnival throughout the event.
Among the highlights of the 2026 edition are several attractions being introduced for the first time in Dakhliyah, including giant interactive inflatable games, the Neon Oasis experience and a 3D hologram.
Youth-focused activities will feature virtual reality games, digital challenges and interactive competitions, while the economic component of the festival will see more than 85 participants, including SMEs, artisan families, farmers, restaurants, cafés and retailers showcasing local products and services.
Sheikh Mahmoud Rashid Al Saadi, acting governor of Dakhliyah, said the festival serves as a catalyst for tourism and economic activity, while supporting entrepreneurs, artisans and farmers. He noted that the event aligns with Oman Vision 2040 by promoting economic diversification, investment opportunities and sustainable tourism development across the governorate.
