Dhofar – Al Mughsail road and bridge project in the Wilayat of Salalah has reached a significant milestone, with 85% of construction now complete. H E Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shamakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport, announced that traffic is expected to commence on the new route and bridge in early July 2026. This vital project aims to improve traffic flow and enhance access to prominent tourism sites, including the Marneef Cave and the natural blowholes at Al Mughsail Beach, while simultaneously strengthening logistical connectivity within the Dhofar Governorate.

The project features a 500 m long concrete bridge supported by 20 columns and two abutments. Designed with both engineering and aesthetic considerations in mind, it includes an underpass, walkways ranging from two to seven metres in width, and comprehensive safety features such as barriers and clear signage. Beyond this development, the Ministry is actively implementing sustainable technologies across its national projects. These innovations include asphalt recycling to minimise waste, the integration of solar panels to reduce operational costs, and the use of remote-controlled machinery for road paving. These efforts align with Oman’s commitment to environmental sustainability, green mobility, and digital transformation in its infrastructure development.
