North Batinah – A health facility in North Batinah Governorate has been seized for providing orthodontic services without the required medical and operational licences, following a joint operation by the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) and the Ministry of Health.

The CPA said its North  Batinah Directorate, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Health Services and other relevant authorities, acted on information indicating that specialised orthodontic treatments were being offered illegally at the facility.

Investigations revealed that a general dentist was carrying out orthodontic procedures outside the centre’s official working hours and during public holidays without possessing the specialist qualifications or legal authorisation required to provide such treatments.

To verify the violation, a joint task force was formed and an undercover source was assigned to arrange an appointment with the dentist.

During a coordinated inspection, officials caught the dentist installing orthodontic braces inside the facility, in breach of regulations governing the practice of medical and health professions.

Violation reports were issued by the concerned authorities, and the tools and equipment used in the unauthorised practice were confiscated.

The CPA reiterated its commitment to protecting consumers and ensuring that healthcare services are provided only by licensed professionals operating within approved facilities.
