Muscat – The number of visitors to museums in Oman decreased 28.6% to 538,000 in 2025 from 753,000 in 2024.

According to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, the number of registered government and private museums rose to 34 last year, compared to 31 in 2024.

The data showed that government museums accounted for the majority of visitors, receiving 445,997 visitors, while private museums welcomed 92,732 patrons during the year.

On a monthly basis, February 2025 recorded the highest museum footfall with 73,152 visitors, while March witnessed the lowest turnout, with visitor numbers falling to 19,470.
