Muscat – Cost reduction, operational efficiency and safety remain central to industrial innovation, with AI-driven ‘Digital Twin’ technology emerging as a key solution across sectors, including medical and electrical engineering.
Dubai-based Al Ghurair Group introduced the Digital Twin solution to Oman’s electrical engineering sector for the first time during the PCS Roadshow 2026 held on Monday. The event also marked the debut of the PCS Roadshow in the sultanate, where the company showcased four flagship products already deployed in the UAE – Control and Protection Release (CRP), medium-voltage switchgear, low-voltage switchgear and the AI-enabled Digital Twin platform.
While CRP has operated in Oman for more than two decades, the Digital Twin solution represents a new technological advancement for the local market.
K Jacob John, CEO of Construction and Manufacturing at Al Ghurair, explained the concept in practical terms. “It is a 3D virtual model of electrical systems. It scans the setup, takes it into a virtual environment, and analyses complex issues. Thousands of research datasets are fed into the system, enabling it to identify overloads, optimise usage, and resolve problems without interfering with the real powerhouse,” he said.
He added that Oman’s adoption of Digital Twin technology would support smarter, safer and more efficient power management.
Ammar Hamdan, Senior Vice President at Al Ghurair, explained that the platform is designed for critical electrical infrastructure, providing predictive analysis and decision-support tools to operators. “With increasing volumes of real-time data across generation, transmission and distribution networks, manual decision-making can be slow and prone to error. The Digital Twin model allows simulation-based assessments without disrupting live operations.”
The company said it is in discussions with government and private entities in the power sector, including Nama Group, Oman Electricity Transmission Company and units of Petroleum Development Oman, in partnership with its local partner Gulf Petrochemical Services and Trading LLC, to roll out the technology.
