Muscat – Environment Authority (EA) has issued an explanatory statement regarding information currently circulating on social media platforms concerning air quality indices from unverified applications. The Authority confirmed its steadfast commitment to the principle of transparency in the publication of environmental data, noting that such information is made available directly through the certified Naqi platform. This official resource relies on data gathered from formal monitoring stations that operate continuously around the clock to ensure the highest levels of accuracy.

The Authority further clarified that certain unofficial applications may rely on estimated or unauthenticated data, which can lead to the dissemination of inaccurate information and cause unnecessary public concern without a sound scientific basis. Consequently, the Environment Authority has called upon all members of the public to exercise caution and precision by relying exclusively on official sources for environmental information. By using validated data, the community can ensure they are receiving updates based on rigorous scientific standards and verified monitoring infrastructure.
