31 Mar 2026 Oman customs announces new customs facilities for transit goods By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Directorate General of Customs, has officially announced a new package of facilities aimed at streamlining the entry of goods under the transit system as of March 31. This update introduces significant procedural shifts to enhance trade flow and support the commercial community within the Sultanate.

Under the new regulations, empty containers are now permitted to enter and exit without a customs declaration, provided they undergo mandatory inspection through scanning devices. Additionally, transit declarations can now be completed at the port of entry using only a booking number, with the release of containers restricted to those that have physically arrived.

For vehicles and equipment arriving from Gulf Cooperation Council ports, the requirements have been simplified to a transit declaration alone, removing the previous necessity for a customs card or an export certificate. These measures underscore the ongoing commitment of the Royal Oman Police to facilitate seamless cross-border trade and bolster the national economy through efficient logistics.
