Salalah – The Earthquake Monitoring Centre at Sultan Qaboos University reported a moderate earthquake in the Arabian Sea early on Wednesday morning. The tremor, which measured 5.7 on the Richter scale, occurred at approximately 05:05 am local time. According to data released by the centre, the earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km.
The epicentre of the seismic activity was located approximately 209 km south-west of the city of Salalah. While the magnitude is classified as moderate, the monitoring centre continues to track seismic data through Oman’s network of observation stations to ensure public safety. No immediate reports of damage or significant impact on coastal areas have been issued following the event.
