Muscat – In accordance with Royal Decree No. 111/2025 regarding the mandatory implementation of premarital medical examinations, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has issued a comprehensive guide for Omani citizens and residents intending to marry. The new directive stipulates that individuals opting to conduct their screenings through private healthcare institutions must adhere to a specific five-step validation process to ensure their certificates are legally recognised. The Ministry will further emphasise that these screenings must only be performed at accredited private facilities to ensure compliance with national health standards.

In the Muscat Governorate, citizens may access these services at Al Amal Medical and Health Care Centre (Al Khuwair), Burjeel Hospital, KimsHealth Hospital (Darsait), KimsHealth Medical Centre (Al Khuwair), Badr Al Samaa Hospital (Ruwi), and Life Care Hospital. For those residing in the North Batinah Governorate, the accredited facilities include Lifeline Hospital in Sohar and Durrat Al Shifa Medical Centre in Saham. Additionally, residents of the Al Buraimi Governorate are directed to Yas Medical Centre for their examinations.

Once the medical results are issued, applicants are required to receive professional consultation from specialists within the private institution before obtaining an official statement verified by the attending physician and the facility’s stamp. To finalise the legal documentation, the form must be submitted to the Directorate General of Private Health Establishments at the Ministry of Health’s headquarters or the relevant regional departments for final authentication. This validated document must then be uploaded to the Ministry of Justice’s ‘Tawtheeq’ platform. The Ministry underscored that no screening certificate from a private provider will be considered valid for legal marriage proceedings unless it has undergone this official certification process.
