Salalah – The Environment Authority (EA) has issued a clarification regarding the temporary closure of the road section connecting Rakhyut and Dalkhut, which traverses the Khor Kharfout Archaeological Reserve (currently under development).

The Authority confirmed that the closure is a requisite measure within its ongoing regulatory work. This operation is designed to install protective barriers around sensitive ecological areas within the reserve, ensuring their preservation. The restriction will remain in place until the completion of these essential protective works.

The statement further affirmed the Authority’s consideration for local livestock owners. An organised coordination mechanism has been established to allow herders regulated access to the reserve when required for the necessary inspection of their stock.

The Authority underscored its unwavering commitment to full cooperation with local communities adjacent to or benefiting from the reserves.
